Victim’s Advocate
Support For Children And Families
At Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center in Warsaw, Indiana, our victim’s advocate plays a vital role in helping children and their caregivers feel supported and informed throughout the child abuse investigation process. We know the journey can be overwhelming, and our advocate ensures no child has to face it alone.
What Does A Victim’s Advocate Do?
The victim’s advocate at Safe Harbor CAC provides personal support to child victims and their caretakers. From the very first meeting, families receive guidance, encouragement, and access to important community resources.
The advocate is available throughout the investigation and the criminal justice process, offering reassurance and practical help when it matters most.
Our victim’s advocate:
Children and their caregivers often feel overwhelmed by the legal system and unsure of what will happen after a child’s forensic interview. Our victim’s advocate steps in to explain the process, provide clear answers, and connect families to services that promote healing.
This support reduces stress for caretakers, while children feel comforted knowing they are in a safe and caring environment.

The advocate meets with caretakers, explains what will happen, and answers any immediate concerns. Families are encouraged to ask questions at every step.
During the Interview
While the child meets with the forensic interviewer, the advocate provides comfort to caretakers and prepares them for what happens next.
After the Interview
The victim’s advocate offers referrals to counseling, medical providers, and community services. They also continue to provide emotional support and help children navigate ongoing court proceedings if necessary.
